Nathalie Minya is a dynamic and captivating Speaker and Singer. She speaks passionately and creatively engages the audience with her riveting life story which touches on major issues. Her talk will include topics such as education, entrepreneurship, social justice, effects of HIV/ AIDS in low income societies and gender disparity. Her soulful voice takes you back to her motherland where she grew up as she sings songs in her Mother’s tongue – shona.She grew up in Zimbabwe, as the sixth of eight children. She was born a few years after Zimbabwe’s independence from the British Rule in 1980 and was lucky to be part of the “Born Free” generation; as it was termed in those days. She was not exempt from the racially sensitive environment of that era and this; coupled with life experiences as a girl in a patriarchal society; led her to be the powerhouse she is today. She is second generation proof that Education works as both her parents were born in remote villages but rose to become professionals who instilled that value to their children. She believes that education is a vital tool to bring children and whole societies out of poverty.
At the age of 15, Ms. Minya became an entrepreneur and the youngest designer in the Country at that time. At the age of 20, she earned enough money to travel to the United States and attend college in Missouri, where she earned a Business Management degree. (Cum Laude) and MBA. Currently, she is Director of TESE Foundation whose mission is to alleviate poverty from the girl child through education. She spearheads fundraising efforts through speaking engagements, community micro-finance projects, networking and social media. . She is active in her community, a member of Davis Sunrise Rotary, resides on the International House Davis Board of Directors and a mother of two young children.Her topics include but are not limited to:
